Mountz Jewelers has been a hole-in-one sponsor since 2007 and finally presented its first Rolex watch to lucky golfer Mike Bangs on June 1.

Mountz Jewelers, Central Pennsylvania’s expert jeweler and source for certified loose diamonds, engagement rings and fine jewelry, has been a proud sponsor of the annual Hospice of Central Pennsylvania golf tournament for the past nine years. This year was no exception. Though rainy off and on throughout the day, 220 golfers set out on the West Shore Country Club to support Hospice of Central PA and play for the chance to win prizes which included the elusive hole-in-one Rolex watch offered by Mountz Jewelers, which over the past nine years had the potential to giveaway over $45,000 in Rolex watches at this event.

“Mountz’s chance at winning a Rolex has been a staple in our important fundraising efforts for many years,” stated Donna Wamboldt, Hospice of Central Pennsylvania. “Our generous sponsors like Mountz help us to provide thousands of dollars in free care to our patients and their families each year.”

Some sources believe that the chances of getting a hole in one are 10,000 to 1 while others claim that the odds are more like 100,000 to 1. Although uncertain of the actual odds of winning, everyone can agree odds are slim. This year, one lucky golfer did walk away with a brand new Rolex watch valued at $5,050 thanks to a hole-in-one win. Mike Bangs of Bangs Law Office, LLC in Camp Hill and current Vice Chair of Hospice of Central Pennsylvania was elated with his hole-in-one on the 18th hole, a 168 yard par-3, sponsored by Mountz Jewelers.

“This is my third hole-in-one but the most thrilling because I won a Rolex.” shared Mike Bangs. “The irony of the feat was that I was playing with a lifelong friend Lee Turner who is the brother-in-law of Nathan Patterson another lifelong friend who witnessed my first hole-in-one in 1986; I introduced Lee to his wife the former Sharon Patterson.” “Congratulations to Mike,” commented Ron Leitzel, Chief Executive Officer and CoOwner at Mountz Jewelers. “On such a rare occasion, Mountz Jewelers couldn’t have been more thrilled to present a new Rolex watch for the hole-in-one win.”

According to Donna Wamboldt, “We are thrilled for Mike, and once again, thank our friends at Mountz Jewelers for sponsoring the hole-in-one contest. People really do win watches in golf tournaments.”
