Tsavorite was discovered in early 1970s, a relative newcomer to the world of gems. Tsavorite is a special variety of the Grossular Garnet species, named after its source in Tsavo National Park, the largest game park in Kenya. Tsavo Park is home to some of the largest numbers of wildlife still existing in Africa today, including lions, leopards, elephants, buffalos, and rhinos, just to name a few.
