Tourmaline comes from the Sinhalese word “turmali,” the name historically given to a mixed parcel of colored gems in the island of Ceylon, now Sri Lanka. It was easily confused with a mix of other minerals due to its wide range of colors. There are over 70 different hues in the Pink to Red range of Tourmaline.
