Handcrafted Watches Built in America Available at Mountz in Carlisle, Camp Hill and Colonial Park/Harrisburg
Mountz Jewelers, Central Pennsylvania’s expert jewelers and source for GIA certified loose diamonds, engagement rings and fine jewelry, announces that they now offer a wide selection of Shinola handcrafted watches. Proudly built in America Shinola watches are available at all three Mountz Jewelers locations.
Shinola, founded in 2011 and taking its name from the revered shoe polish company that rose to fame in America during World War II, is the maker of handcrafted watches for men and women, as well as bicycles, leather goods and journals. The brand set out to assemble watches at scale in the United States for the first time in more than 40 years, and it proudly chose Detroit, a city rich in U.S. manufacturing history, as the location for its global headquarters for watch and leather factories.
All Shinola watches feature Argonite movement, signifying the watches are handassembled in the Argonaut building in downtown Detroit, former home of General Motor’s legendary design teams until the end of the 20th Century. Using 46+ Swiss-made components from partner Ronda AG, one of the only independent movement manufacturers left in Switzerland, Shinola watches feature leather straps sourced from American tanneries, stainless steel bracelets and PVD, yellow gold or rose gold bracelets. Known as Physical Vapor Deposition, this application was developed by the military to seal metal, thus reducing scraping and wear.
Mountz will offer popular Shinola men’s styles including the Runwell, Runwell Sport Chronograph and the Brakeman. Women’s styles will include the sophisticated Birdy and the Gomelsky. Retail prices range from $475 to $1,125 and all watches come with a limited lifetime warranty.
About Shinola
In 2011, Shinola, a Bedrock Manufacturing brand, was conceived with the belief that products should be built to last, and they should be built right here in America. As makers of modern, handcrafted watches, bicycles, leather goods and journals, Shinola is proud to be based in Detroit, a community-minded city with a strong manufacturing legacy. Shinola built their watch factory within the College for Creative Studies in the former Argonaut building. As a new company with a storied name, Shinola stands for skill at scale, the preservation of craft and the beauty of industry.
