MOUNTZ JEWELERS TO PRESENT SEVENTH ANNUAL DIAMOND DIG AT THE HARRISBURG SENATORS
Game to be played Thursday, August 6 against the Akron Rubber Ducks at 7 p.m. The search for the $2,500 diamond pendant will start when the game ends.

Camp Hill, PA, July 27, 2015 – For the seventh year in a row, Mountz Jewelers and the Harrisburg Senators will present the annual Diamond Dig at the Harrisburg Senators baseball game Thursday, August 6 against the Akron Rubber Ducks starting at 7 p.m.

This year’s Diamond Dig celebrates $19,000 worth of diamonds, which have been given to 7 lucky Central PA residents by Mountz Jewelers over the past 7 years. Also on this night, Metro Bank Park will celebrate Thirsty Thursday at which fans can purchase $2 Coors Light Beers at any of their boardwalk locations. Parking will also be free that evening for those who bring a bag of clothes to donate to Community Aid. All those who donate will receive a voucher for free parking that night.

After the game, women 18 and older will be invited onto the infield to have an opportunity, with a metal spoon as a digging tool, to search for a $2,500 14K white gold diamond pendant with .85 carat total weight of diamonds. This pendant was chosen specifically for the Diamond Dig as it represents the diamond shape of the infield with the pitcher’s mound at the center which is represented by the largest diamond in the piece.

The first year this one of a kind event was held the ladies were given plastic spoons. Over 1,000 spoons were used for 125 participants because they kept breaking. Metal spoons have been used ever since to help the ladies find the pendant in the 20 minute time limit. The pendant has been located 4 times out of the 6 past events. The pendant was not located in 2012 after the 20 minute mark so the grounds crew brought a shovel, located it and awarded it to the closest participant. The record time to beat is 1 minute and 48 seconds set the third year of the event.

“We look forward to this event every year,” said Tonia Ulsh, Chief Operating Officer at Mountz Jewelers. “Mountz is happy to contribute to an evening of family fun where at the end of the night all the ladies have a chance to win a gorgeous pendant. We hope everyone will come out and enjoy the evening.”
