In early December, right at the height of the holiday season, Pantone made their annual color of the year selection for 2015 and the winner was Marsala! What?! As I quickly read through article after article sharing what was apparently exciting news, I struggled to visualize Marsala, which had just been elevated as the ‘it’ color in fashion, beauty, and home furnishings. What did I already own in this now popular color? More importantly what did I need to get? Hard questions to answer, when you have no idea what the color of Marsala is.
“Marsala is a subtly seductive shade, one that draws us in to its embracing warmth,” according to Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “The subtle red is flattering to many skin tones, is sensual and bold and a daringly inviting tone that nurtures exuding confidence and stability while feeding the body, mind, and soul,” Eiseman continues. Well, since you put it that way, Marsala is my new favorite color! So, as we now enter February I’m giving Marsala a second chance, as we begin to see a trend unfolding for the month of love, which we here at Mountz will embrace for the rest of 2015. Marsala is making its way into people’s hearts and if you’re still not inspired by this deep red, maybe the shades that surround this hue like richer reds, softer pinks and lavenders will give you inspiration.
To see more of our Valentine’s Day favorites, tune to ABC27 with Ali Lanyon this Monday, February 9 between 5:10 and 6:50 am when Mountz Jewelers’ jewelry experts Terry Ebersole and Helen Rider will provide gift ideas you’re sure to love for your girlfriend or significant other.
